1 cup vegetable oil
1 ½ cups sugar
1 – 1 ounce bottle red food coloring
2 eggs
2 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream first four ingredients.
Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Bake in three 8-inch greased and floured cake pans for approximately
25 minutes at 350. Let cool before frosting.
Frosting:
¼ cup flour
1 cup milk
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup nuts
1 cup coconut
Cook flour and milk until it makes a paste.
Let cool and add rest of ingredients.
Stir well until oil is dissolved.
Frost on top of layers. Let it run down sides.
