He is Mindful

While talking with a friend recently, they posed this question to me.  “What is the one thing that you feel has gotten you through all of your rough times?”   I sat for a brief moment pondering that question. It only took seconds for the answer to come to me. The answer is that God has ALWAYS been so mindful of me!  He has always been good, always loving, and always faithful. You might say that all of those things could really be part of being mindful, and I would agree; but what I am talking about goes even beyond that in my mind.  I will explain.

Merriam-Webster defines mindfulness as the practice of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions or experiences on a moment to moment basis; attentive, aware or careful with.  Isn’t that just an incredible description of our loving Father?

I look back over the various heartaches that I have gone through and in each situation, I can see several major instances where God was absolutely mindful of me, my feelings and circumstances. Psalms 8:4 says it best, “what is man, that You are mindful of him, the son of man that You care for him.”   When you stop and think that God is so attentive to your needs and cares about your feelings, isn’t it just mind boggling that THE GOD of the universe actually does this?

When I look back, I can see where God placed me right where I needed to be to get through certain times, or He provided something that I really wanted, which seemed very out of reach, and the list just goes on and on. Sometimes, it was just a word that He spoke into my heart at the exact time it was needed, or using someone else to speak into my life to encourage.

Out of many instances, I would like to share one with you. I had been working for a large corporation for just a few months, and I began having severe pain from an escalating medical problem. I went to the doctor and after much testing, she said I would need to have major surgery and after a five-day hospital stay, I would need to be off work for at least 6 weeks. Immediately I began to worry. As a single mom. and sole support for my two children, I could not afford to be off work at all!  What was I going to do?  I gave it to God (mostly because I had no solution) and made an appointment with my supervisor the next morning.  I told her exactly what the doctor told me, and I was literally in tears explaining that I needed to be working. She told me she was going to check something and would get back with me. After just a short time, she called me in her office and explained to me that the short-term disability program followed by the company would only benefit me IF I had been with the company for six months.  Neither of us thought I had been there that long. After checking, she discovered that I had been there six months and two days, and because of that, I would receive my full pay for the entire time I was off!  Now tell me that God wasn’t mindful of my situation!

Friends, all of those past experiences I have had describe a God who is being very attentive to me, a God who cares immensely about the difficulties I am facing. He knows what we are going through and sometimes He just removes the problem miraculously, and other times He will use various things to assist us through the situation carefully. The fact remains that we are never alone. It reminds me of an ever-watchful parent who carefully assesses the situation and sees what would be most helpful for their child at the moment, and makes it happen. How wonderful is that?  That is who our God is!   He is carefully and mindfully watching over and guiding you!

And when we consider our current environment of dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, we can still be confident that our God will be mindful of us and that He is still our healer and provider.  He will not forget us!  Be encouraged today!
